To Blog or not to Blog...or – Get of the frickin’ fence Brell.
Okay – today I made a commitment to you –and to myself, that if I am going to blog – and apparently I am – I am going to weigh in with my thoughts. This is not entirely my fault. I get an inspirational email every day, and yesterdays quote was:
"To change one's life: 1. Start immediately. 2. Do it flamboyantly. 3. No exceptions."
– William James
I think it was the flamboyant part that really hit home. I like flamboyant. Flamboyant is liberating.
I realized that I have been being coming dangerously close to “McREALTOR”ed –that horribly frightening, mind-numbing condition where, in my mind, one tries to homogenize, to try to appeal to the masses. I don’t function well in that mode – though I am occasionally seduced into it for short periods of time.
Are you with me?”No” is a perfectly acceptable answer. I use it myself regularly albeit not as often and my 2.5 year old grandson (who is.. perfect by the way and yes.. I have photos and stories to illustrate my statement.) Anyway, the point is – at 49 and three years into this business – I am realizing that in order to work well for my clients – to truly “be there” for them and put them first and foremost when the need arises – I have to be true to me and let you see who I am.
Almost everyone uses the internet to look for real estate these days. That is why they tell all Realtors you need a website and you HAVE to blog. Well – yes I agree.. to a point.
Transparency.
There, I said it – hat is what I hope to achieve from now on in my writings to you. (wondering if the word “transparency” needed to be in quotations – since I said that I said it and perhaps some English teacher will enlighten me on that.)
In reality – there is no value to you if we write a bunch of stuff that you could Google on your own and just clogging the internet with repetitious fodder. Please. You are smarter than that.. if I googled it to find it to write about – you certainly can too!
So from here on in.. when I blog, I will also share some of my thoughts with you. It will give you a chance to get to know me. (Be afraid – be very afraid.) You may or may not agree with my perspective – and that is cool – I do promise to be real with you – always. I will respect your thoughts and listen and consider your perspective and appreciate that you have taken the time to hear mine.
